What is CareerQuestions?

CareerQuestions lets you explore careers while connecting you to others. Use it as an informational tool, as an interactive experience, or both.

CareerQuestions is an informational resource providing insight into every profession of the workforce. Our detailed job descriptions outline careers so you gain a better understanding of what people do for a living. Read about jobs you may not have known existed, explore educational paths, determine career prospects, examine industry trends, and much more.

More than just a knowledge base, CareerQuestions also connects you to others so you get information from those in the know-how of a particular industry. Browse the profiles of industry specialists and see what they have to say about their jobs, or create a profile for yourself. Our open forum discussions provide a platform so you can ask any questions about the fields you are interested in, or simply network with your colleagues.

How can I promote my Organisation on CareerQuestions?


Listed below are the ways in which you can promote your organisation on CareerQuestions.com. All information submitted will be made available to the public, so it's important that no copyrights exist.

1. Create an Account / Profile

To get started with CareerQuestions.com you will need to do the following :
  1. Create and activate an account for your institute/organisation at : http://www.careerquestions.com/register/registerinstitute.aspx by following the instructions provided on the site.
  2. When you have created an account you must complete General, public contact and private contact details by logging in to your account and using the system provided in your members area.
Once you have created your account and completed your profile your organisation will have a profile on CareerQuestions.com.


2. Provide a list of Career/Job Types for your Industry

On CareerQuestions.com we aim to provide a complete and accurate summary of the types of jobs available in each industry. Due to changes mainly in business methods and technology, this list is ever changing. For this reason we are asking all institutions/organisations to submit a list of Career & Job Types in their Industry to ensure we provide a comprehensive and up to date list on CareerQuestions.com.


3. Provide Information on the Career/Job Types for your Industry

Where possible we ask that you provide information on the Career & Job Types to be displayed in Career Profiles . Information submitted will be credited to your institute/organisation with a link to your profile. Information should be submitted under the following headings :
  • Overview of Job
  • Work Environment (Office / Outdoors / Lab / etc...)
  • Job Earning & Benefits
  • Advancement Possibilities
  • Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Necessary Education & Skills
  • Industry Outlook

4. Your Members can Submit Personal job Profiles


A Personal job profile is an individuals account of working in one of the aforementioned Career / Job Types. Personal Job Profiles cannot be created under your organisations account. If you have people in your organisation who are willing to submit personal job profiles they can create a member account at http://www.careerquestions.com/register/register.aspx.

Once an individual has created an account and logged in, they can follow a step by step guide leading them through submitting personal, educational details, and finally submitting a personal job profile. They can link their personal job profile to your organisations profile on step 8 of the job profile form.

People who post personal job profiles can choose whether or not to allow users to ask questions in relation to their personal profile. Also no personal contact details (name, email) will be displayed if the user chooses not to display them.


5. You can moderate changes to information related to your Industry

Information in Career Profiles will be editable by users of the site once the site goes live. All changes must be made by registered members and will be moderated before going live on the site to confirm validity. Your organisation can choose to be a moderator of changes.

Being a Moderator consists of assessing if content changes made to Career Profiles are valid and an improvement on what's already there.

When you are a Moderator, a list of pending content changes will be available to you from the home page of your CareerQuestions Members Area. An easy one-click system allows you to approve or disapprove of changes.

What are the benefits for my Organisation?


Increased Internet Presence (for free!):

Users who may never have heard of your organisation will be able to view your profile page, browse personal job profiles provided by some of your members, view your contact details and get in touch and ask questions. You can also add a link to your organisations homepage. The more links you have to your site the higher your ranking on most search engines.

Should you choose to provide career overview information, your organisation will be cited on all pages which you have provided data which in turn raises your exposure to users.

Educate People On Your Industry:

Many people do not know what it is like to work in a particular job or industry, and the only way to find out is to find someone in the field, which isn't always as easy as it might seem. With your help, our users will be able to browse your members personal job profiles and read about what it is like to work in the industry. Through our open discussion forums they will be able to ask questions and read other questions and answers regarding their particular industry of interest.

By allowing users to read about what your members do via personal job profiles and what your Industry is all about via career overviews you are enabling students and job seekers the opportunity to really see what it is like to work in your field. This will help users to make informed decisions on their career path and attract the right kind of people to your Industry.
